The interference pattern is expressed in terms of a simple formula. We demonstrate that modulations of the interfered wave amplitude can be a unique signature of the wave effect. We briefly mention a possible chance of detecting the wave effect in future gravitational wave observatories.

Gravitational Lensing by Cosmic Strings in the Era of Wide-Field Surveys
Motivated by the recent claim for gravitational lensing by a cosmic string, we reinvestigate the probability of finding such an event with upcoming wide-field surveys. If an observed lensing event is suspected to be due to a string, observations of the vicinity of the event in a circle of diameter L centered on the observed lens should reveal several additional lensing events. For a string loca...
متن کاملGravitational lensing on the Cosmic Microwave Background by gravity waves
We study the effect of a stochastic background of gravitational waves on the gravitational lensing of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation. It has been shown that matter density inhomogeneities produce a smoothing of the acoustic peaks in the angular power spectrum of the CMB anisotropies. A gravitational wave background gives rise to an additional smoothing of the spectrum. For the ...
متن کاملCosmic String Lensing and Closed Time-like Curves
In an analysis of the gravitational lensing by two relativistic cosmic strings, we argue that the formation of closed time-like curves proposed by Gott is unstable in the presence of particles (e.g. the cosmic microwave background radiation). Due to the attractor-like behavior of the closed time-like curve, we argue that this instability is very generic. A single graviton or photon in the vicin...
متن کاملCosmic String Detection via Microlensing of Stars
Cosmic superstrings are produced towards the end of the brane inflation, a scenario realized in modern superstring theory. If the string tension is low enough, loops tend to be relatively long-lived. The resultant string network is expected to contain many loops which are smaller than typical Galactic scales. Cosmic expansion damps the center of mass motion of the loops which then cluster like ...
متن کاملGravitational phase operator and cosmic strings.
A quantum equivalence principle is formulated by means of a gravitational phase operator which is an element of the Poincare group. This is applied to the spinning cosmic string which suggests that it may contain gravitational torsion. A new exact solution of the EinsteinCartan-Sciama-Kibble equations for the gravitational field with torsion is obtained everywhere for a cosmic string with unifo...
